Community‘s Jim Rash hosts Sundance’s Writers’ Room, which reveals what it’s like inside the writers’ rooms of televisions most popular shows. The show is not for everyone. Two types of people will like it: fans of the show being featured on that week’s episode and aspiring television writers, who will tune in for every episode. The former group will only watch an episode or two. They will agree with Zap2it‘s assessment of the show feeling like “a glorified DVD box set extra.” Aspiring television writers will disagree because the show provides important insight into how a writers’ room operates, such as some people stressing over how the story progresses and others taking the role of cheerleader.
Most American television viewers know Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House. However, in 1998, Laurie made a guest appearance on Friends as a very sardonic airplane passenger who tries to reason with Jennifer Aniston’s character, Rachel, about going to London to stop a wedding. Laurie may have had a small role on Friends, but it’s easy to see why he deserved a big break in America a few years later.
At the end of last month, Dish Network dropped AMC from its service. However, all is not lost for fans of AMC’s Breaking Bad. The network is making the season 5 premiere of Breaking Bad available via a live stream at www.amctv.com/breakingbad4dish. Dish customers will be able to register for access to the live stream beginning today at 3pm. The live stream will begin this Sunday at 10pm, which is the same time Breaking Bad will begin its fifth season on AMC.
