Letterman Has an Old-Fashioned Christmas
In December 1987, David Letterman parodied old Christmas special’s on Late Night by turning the show into Dave Letterman’s Old-Fashioned Christmas. During the show, Dave “sang” with Ted Nugent. It’s a shame Dave doesn’t sing more often, since he has an amazing voice.
Please do not turn the comment section into a political debate.
Remembering 9/11
It is hard to believe that 9/11 happened 11 years ago. Each year, I usually watch David Letterman’s post-9/11 return speech as a reminder of how the country was feeling in the days following the attacks. For me, it is a reminder of the raw emotions I felt at the time and the fact that I was not alone. This year, I decided to compile the poignant returns of the New York-based late night comedy shows. (Saturday Night Live is notably missing from this article because I have not found the show’s first episode after September 11th on the internet.) Instead of commenting on David Letterman, Jon Stewart, and Conan O’Brien’s speeches, I will let the three men speak for themselves.

Today’s video is a few months old, but it is still entertaining. In it, Jon Stewart constantly pesters London Mayor Boris Johnson about New York City’s soda ban. Soda loving New Yorkers will be pleased to know that London will happily take soda ban refugees.

The Rom Bomb Video Vlog Blog is a fantastic parody of an out of touch person trying to sound hip, which in this case is Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. In the video, Jimmy Fallon shows off his ability to do great impressions.
Cool TV Video Of The Day: Jon Stewart on Crossfire
The following is a clip from the cancelled CNN show, Crossfire. In the video, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart makes an appearance in which he criticizes the very style of the show. Crossfire is meant to be a political debate show. Stewart correctly points out that Crossfire hosts Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala engage in partisan hackery rather than serious political discussion. Stewart said that Crossfire is not a debate show but “political theater” and that Carlson and Begala are wasting an opportunity for serious debate. In turn, the hosts criticize Stewart for his lack of journalistic integrity. Stewart dismisses this, saying that The Daily Show is on Comedy Central rather than a serious news outlet. The Burn Needs To Be Burned
The Burn with Jeff Ross premiered on Comedy Central last night. Ross is is known for his ability to “roast” various celebrities, earning him the title of Roast Master. It seems like giving him a talk show would be a good idea. It certainly would be if he was at all funny. The show isn’t hard to watch or cringe worthy. It’s just boring. The Burn is meant to be a show that satirizes the lives of celebrities and pokes fun at current events. Ross did not do that at all. He made cheap puns at which the audience seemed to be prompted to chuckle. He insulted the celebrities mentioned in an attempt to be playful. They would be more enjoyable if the punchlines were funny or well thought out, but they just fell flat.
Cool TV Video of the Day: Conan Entertains in a Blackout
In 2003, a the second most widespread blackout in history practically closed down the Northeast and parts of Canada. Despite not being able to do a full show, Conan O’Brien decided to do an introduction to a rerun of Late Night. There may not be an audience, but Conan still manages to be on top of his game.

Cool TV Video of the Day: The Most Censored American Talk Show Interview
On March 31, 1994, Madonna appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. Throughout the interview, Madonna brought up topics that are inappropriate for network television and cursed excessively. Because of Madonna’s language, the interview is the most censored in American talk show history with 13 bleeps (in this case audio drops) just for f*** alone.

The following is a clip of the “New Rules” segment from a 2010 episode of Real Time with Bill Maher. In the video, the political comedian has harsh criticisms about a lack of quality education taught to children. He rejects the notion that teachers should be blamed for parents’ incompetence. He also ironically slams television as one of the reasons parents are not taking responsibility.
