‘Heat Vision and Jack’: Knowledge is Power… For Real!

The wonders of sharing footage and communicating with sapiens of similar tastes can be a blessing or a nuclear bomb for television nowadays. Forums of a show can be where creators get their most intimate feedback, and fan pages are where a show might be petitioned to return, sometimes to actual avail. But one of the more fascinating uses for TV fans on the internet is the ability to witness behind the scenes footage and features, things that never made it to the airwaves. This is the case for failed pilots like Conan O’Brien’s satirical crime show Lookwell, the clumsy American remake of Spaced that existed for all of five seconds, and possibly the buried pleasure of unaired pilots: Heat Vision and Jack.

Cool TV Video of the Day: Hey, Hey, They’re the Grungies

The Monkees were huge in the mid-1960s. For two years, they had the number one show in the country and kept topping the music charts. After, the television show came to an end the popularity of the band quickly declined. Over the course of 3 years, Davy Jones, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith disbanded. However, The Monkees regained popularity in the mid-80s because of constant replaying on MTV and Nickelodeon. A few years later, The Ben Stiller Show would combine The Monkees’ newly found pop culture relevance with the Seattle sound. This brilliant parody of The Monkees and grunge even has an appearance from Mickey Dolenz.

Epix Announces Comedy Unbound

The premium cable channel EPIX  has announced a new monthly comedy showcase called Comedy Unbound. The show gives EPIX alumni a platform to perform new specials. The showcase kicks off with Jim Norton: Please Be Offended premiering on tonight. Each special will air on the last weekend of every month.

CEO Mark Greenberg said that the network has had great success with their original comedy specials since its launch and that the network is committed to featuring the most talented comedians today. He wants them to feel free to test boundaries as they please.

Comedian Jim Norton said, “My experience with EPIX has been unlike any other network. I’ve worked closely with the EPIX team throughout the entire process, including promotion, which is an incredibly rare luxury for a performer.” Other comedians feel the same way.

Comedy Unbound will also feature Kevin Smith,  Austrailian stand-up Jim Jefferies, and Ben Stiller. Sherri Shephard, Eddie Griffin, and Lewis Black will also perform specials. The show will air new showcases on the last weekend of every month.
