The 2012 Emmy Nominees
Earlier today, The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the 2012 Emmy Awards nominees. HBO (81 nominations) and CBS (60 nominations) lead the networks in nominations. Mad Men and American Horror Story (tied with 17 nominations) were shows nominated for the most awards.

Trust Us With Your Life or Not
ABC‘s Trust Us with Your Life is easy to forget about because it’s on Tuesday nights, which are dominated by America’s Got Talent. I thought this was the debut of Trust Us with Your Life, it was actually the second week and the third and fourth episodes of the series aired.
Trust Us with Your Life is essentially a rehash of Whose Line is it Anyway? meets a really bad talk show. The show’s not terrible, but I could have lived without it. The guests add nothing, except tell wacky stories that are acted out by the cast. The entire cast is talented, but are limited in trying to be somewhat faithful to the celebrities memory. The two shows also pretty much share the same cast, which I am convinced has nothing better to do than to make poor imitations of their most successful show. Only this time they did it sans Drew Carey and added Jonathan Magnum and Fred Willard.
Despite the surprise absence of Drew Carey, not having anything to do with him was the best decision the producers could have made. It is the best attempt to recreate Whose Line is it Anyway? so far, but that’s not saying much. Past attempts at recreating the magic in Whose Line? revolved around Carey, so much so that his name was in the title of the two previous improv shows with the same cast: Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show and Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza. Both shows were terrible and didn’t even make it past a season, which is a fate Trust Us will probably share. When done well, these type of shows work best in America after 11pm. However, the only improv show that has worked so far is Whose Line is it Anyway?. Will someone please make Whose Line 2.0, so the fans no longer have to sit through poor imitations?
9 Reality Shows That Didn’t Last
In recent years, entertainment has been suffering an overload of reality television, most of which is trite and unintelligent. A lot of the programming is still on the air, but a lot of it is now a part of television history no one appreciates. Let’s revisit some of the shows that flopped.
Married By America
In Married By America, viewers voted for pairs of single men and women would be engaged and arranged to be married all within a 5 week span. The dating pool was originally selected by the suitors’ loved ones. America then voted in to decide which man would propose to which women without even having seen her face or talked to her at all. After the fiances were paired up, they spent five weeks first getting to know the person they were planning to marry. At the end of each episode, so called relationship experts would decide which engagement was going to end. By the final episode, two couples were left to plan their weddings Thankfully, neither of the couples went through with it. I’m surprised this wasn’t thought of as unethical from the start, but cancelling it after a season was the right call.

Kelly Ripa May Finally Be Getting a Permanent Co-Host
We’ve mentioned before that ABC has been procrastinating in picking a new co-host for Kelly Ripa on Live!. However, it looks like they are finally looking for a serious replacement for Regis Philbin. Showbiz 411 reports that ABC has revealed the short list for Ripa’s new co-host. The finalists for the position are Seth Meyers from “Saturday Night Live,” former football player Michael Strahan, and singer Josh Groban.
CBS Hilariously Throws Stones At ABC’s Glass House
CBS unsuccessfully tried to get a court to block the premiere of ABC’s Big Brother-esque reality show The Glass House. While the premiere of The Glass House was only watched by 4.7 million viewers, that hasn’t stopped CBS from sending out a press release that is one big jab at ABC.

Weekly TV Update: June 18
Former reality show star and son of Sharon and Ozzy, Jack Osbourne is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
On Wednesday, ABC Family will air an all day marathon of Melissa and Joey. Old episodes will air from noon to 8pm with a new episode debuting immediately after.
CBS has ordered a Ryan Seacrest produced pilot based on the popular Zynga game Draw Something. The show will follow in the tradition of Win, Lose or Draw and Pictionary.
MTV has a rundown of five key moments from last night’s True Blood.

Live with Kelly Still Needs a Permanent Co-Host
Regis Philbin has been off of daytime television for seven months and Kelly Ripa still does not have a permanent co-host. I know Michael Gelman and the rest of the Live with Kelly crew is looking for the perfect co-host, but this is getting ridiculous because they are not even in a hurry to find one. It has gotten to the point that Live with Kelly is milking its lack of a stable co-host for all the publicity it’s worth.
On Monday, the show announced Live’s Coast-to-Coast Co-Host Search. Viewers will be able to submit 60 second videos about why they should be Ripas co-host from now until June 29. The 10 semi-finalists will be announced on July 16. Later that week, the 5 five finalists will be flown to New York City and given the opportunity to be Ripa’s co-host for a day.

Timothy Poe Admits He Fabricates Stories
America’s Got Talent contestant Timothy Poe spoke to WFAA, an ABC affliate in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, admitting and apologizing for fabricating stories. However, Poe refused to say he lied. Instead, he gave excuses such as:
“I mean, as far as everything I said, I believe it wholeheartedly myself, but I feel like I’m going crazy.”
“I really don’t know right now what’s reality and what’s not reality.”
“I don’t feel like I’ve lied. That’s what’s driving me crazy, because I truly thought things have happened to me.”
In the past Poe has also claimed to have served in Iraq, but there is proof that he didn’t serve there. When asked about Iraq, he responded:
“I don’t know. I’m thinking, why have I for the last, over two years, believed things have happened to me and they might not have?”
In past interviews about his service, Poe did not stutter, so it is probable that it is not real.
I’m not a doctor, but it looks like Poe is a pathological liar. Poe even told WFAA that he knows he needs help and has already contacted the VA to make an appointment.
