Cool TV Video Of The Day: Jon Stewart on Crossfire
The following is a clip from the cancelled CNN show, Crossfire. In the video, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart makes an appearance in which he criticizes the very style of the show. Crossfire is meant to be a political debate show. Stewart correctly points out that Crossfire hosts Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala engage in partisan hackery rather than serious political discussion. Stewart said that Crossfire is not a debate show but “political theater” and that Carlson and Begala are wasting an opportunity for serious debate. In turn, the hosts criticize Stewart for his lack of journalistic integrity. Stewart dismisses this, saying that The Daily Show is on Comedy Central rather than a serious news outlet. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Conan O’Brien hosted to The Tonight Show for a total of 7 months and was replaced by his predecessor, Jay Leno. Regardless of whose side you’re on, Conan’s last two weeks at NBC made for some great television. Not just on NBC, but on CBS as well. David Letterman took delight in tearing into Leno because he had found himself in a similar situation 18 years prior. In this clip, Dave warns that you can think whatever you want about NBC’s late night drama, but “don’t blame Conan.”

In 2003, a the second most widespread blackout in history practically closed down the Northeast and parts of Canada. Despite not being able to do a full show, Conan O’Brien decided to do an introduction to a rerun of Late Night. There may not be an audience, but Conan still manages to be on top of his game.

Cool TV Video of the Day: The Most Censored American Talk Show Interview
On March 31, 1994, Madonna appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. Throughout the interview, Madonna brought up topics that are inappropriate for network television and cursed excessively. Because of Madonna’s language, the interview is the most censored in American talk show history with 13 bleeps (in this case audio drops) just for f*** alone.

5. It’s Not My Baby
Unlike the original version of Justin Beiber’s “Baby,” which is unlistenable to anyone over 14, this is clever. Since we know Justin Beiber wasn’t someone’s baby daddy, Jimmy’s version is no longer relevant, but that doesn’t make it less funny.

Cool TV Video of the Day: The Performance that Got Elvis Costello Banned From SNL
Elvis Costello and the Attractions’ infamous performance of “Radio Radio,” which NBC and Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels did not want played because is a protest song about the media, took place on December 17, 1977. Ironically, the performance and the ban probably would not have happened had the originally scheduled guests the Sex Pistols, who were even more controversial, been able to obtain passports.
At the beginning of the performance, Costello and his band start to play their song “Less Than Zero,” but then stop to consult. This ends with a full performance of “Radio Radio.”
The ban only lasted 12 years. Since 1989, Costello has appeared on SNL 3 times. Lorne Micahels even invited Elvis Costello to perform “Radio Radio” with the Beastie Boys for Saturday Night Live‘s 25th anniversary special.
